Oak sawlogs in our Tetbury yard are selected for milling to produce the best beams for each project. The oak frame carpenter will read the grain of each beam before choosing where it should sit in the frame and in which orientation. Once satisfied measuring and marking up begins before the first joints are cut by hand and framing is underway.
Some walls need to be solid, Oak cladding is a natural choice creating a solid wall with superb insulation and keeping all the beautiful oak beams of the frame, curved wind braces and hand cut joints visible on the inside, including the carpenter’s marks and pegs.
Now add a roof formed with Oak roof trusses, purlins and braces, the whole structure on show for you to admire and lose yourself in for many years. Your oak frame extension is sure to add space, charm and interest and it will be unique to you.

Sustainable Oak Construction
We believe it is our responsibility to make maximum use of every magnificent oak tree that we bring into our yard. Harvesting a tree that was planted by our great-great grandparents generation which has now reached maturity is an honour.
Each saw log is selected for the job, considering length, girth, knots and efficiency. Not only do we produce beams, we take boards form the outside which, grade dependent, are used for cladding, joinery or flooring thereby maximising the yield from what might be a 120 year old tree.
We are proud that nothing is wasted. Only the bark and slabbing boards, pieces too small or rotten knot pockets which can’t be used are chipped to fire our biomass boiler, heating the workshop, office and kiln.
