Creating your oak window or door begins with a detailed consultation to understand your needs and preferences and involve you in the design process, giving you a clear vision of the finished product. Each log is then carefully selected based on its size, grain, and natural characteristics, ensuring it’s perfectly suited for the job.

Throughout the process, sustainability is at the core of what we do. We see it as our duty to make the most of every oak tree that comes into our yard and every part of the tree is utilised, from beams to boards. Anything that cannot be used is chipped to fuel our biomass boiler, heating our workshop and kiln.

When working with oak, you generally find it tends to do what it wants and there’s not much about stopping it. However, with experience, we can see how a beam is going to behave and work with its strengths, not forcing it or denying its nature. When you work with oak, the results can be amazing, but you must accept it for what it is.

We make all structures in our Tetbury workshop using only British oak, which is then precisely milled and graded in-house. Whatever your plans are, we will produce scale drawings to ensure everything is dimensionally perfect.
